Holiday

The Brits call a vacation a "Holiday", so, since I am sick of Christmas already, I thought I'd draw my last real vacation... A trip to Hawaii with Nikki where we rented scooters and had a great time

Imagine

This is my worst Illustration Friday submission yet. I just couldn't think of anything for "Imagine" that hasn't been done to death and I think what I chose to do was beyond my skills.

Anyway, Imagine if San Francisco was made of Chocolate:

Small (Illustration Friday)

(click on "Small (Illustration Friday)" for larger pic). This is from a memory of taking an "air taxi" from Juneau to Glacier Bay and being terrified because the plane was so small and the mountains we were going through were so huge. I'd never been so terrified or felt so tiny in my life. The view was spectacular, but I kept thinking, "this is the part in the movie where the plane crashes and there are no survivors."

I'm officially an idiot!

I thought nobody was commenting on my illustrations anymore. It turns out that I had turned on "moderate comments" and that I needed to approve of all of the comments. Guess what? I had 27 comments waiting to be approved of. Now I feel really stupid.

I apologize for whining like a big baby and thanks to everyone for the comments!

Which do you like better?

Even though nobody ever comments on illustrations anymore (has Illustration Friday gotten too big?), I would like to find out which looks better: If there is anyone out there, please comment...

Smellobration

I invented a new word today: Smellobration. I googled it and nobody else had come up with it yet.

I challenge all Illustration Friday regulars to illustrate that word and post your illustration here! I am going to work on i it too.

"Night" - Illustration Friday

It's like Christmas came early this year!

A few weeks ago I bought my cats a designer cat tree. I figured they needed and would enjoy one, and I finally found one that I wouldn't be too embarrassed to have in my apartment. I spent a lot of money for this, but I figured it was worth it since it was so cool looking and the cats would love it.

Well it came via Fedex yesterday and I set it up. They seem to be enjoying it so far...

In fact, they are so thankful to me for getting them this generous and thoughtful gift, they decided to give me a gift in return...

"Broken" - Illustration Friday

Can you tell that I am not in love with my current job?

Cold?

Please forgive me. I am on a lot of cold and flu medication. This made sense to me at the time...

and then this:

I don't know. I guess I'm trying to get more abstract. I'm pretty sure it's just the cold medication, though.

Escape

This is a rough draft for a friends logo. He makes wheelchairs for dogs. I thought this might work for the "escape" theme this week since the dog is escaping the boundaries that he formerly had now that he has a wheelchair!

Depth

This weeks Illustration Friday topic is "Depth". This is what I think of when I think of depth. The bottom of the ocean or maybe the deep end of a shark tank. Either way it's scary!

Uh oh...

You May Be a Bit Histrionic ...

Dramatic and over the top, you crave attention.

And you'll do anything it takes to get noticed.

You love to be seductive, even when it's inappropriate.

If you're ignored, you're easily hurt ... and act out even more!

St. Jarlath's

I was looking for photos of the elementary school I attended (St. Jarlath Catholic School in Oakland) and this is what came up on google:

...funny thing is that is how I picture it. From the POV of the drinking fountain.

Illustration Friday (or lack thereof)

I haven't felt inspired by the last two topics for the past two weeks ("Travel" and "Alone"). So instead I've been doing stuff on my own. I promised my Mom a watercolors for her birthday. And I have an idea for a book. I'd post it here but I don't want to jinx it.

Been having insomnia lately. I got up at 3 am this morning and watched TV for a couple of hours. I watched a show on America in the 40's, then a documentary on gay intolerance in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was actually super interesting. There have been all of these incidences of hate crimes in the past few years in the Bay Area that I never really heard much about. I guess it's bad for tourism or something? Anyway. I'll scan the stuff I've been doing lately if I can convince Matt to teach me how to use his scanner.

Your Number One Fan

This guy at work just told me that this big fat queen that got laid off used to refer to me as Kathy Bates and sometimes he referred to me a Misery.

It would be a real shame if he were in a car accident and needed help from a passerby...
