Even though nobody ever comments on illustrations anymore (has Illustration Friday gotten too big?), I would like to find out which looks better: If there is anyone out there, please comment...

I prefer the second.
I am amazed at how big IF has gotten. I must say that I am selective about which listings I check... I don't have time to check on all of them... but I do try to leave some sort of remark when ever I've opened a page.
hey there,
well, i'm someone who thrives on criticism {atleast when it comes to my work..it helps me see it frm different perspectives :)} so i'll oblige...
i liked the second one...but with the tiles of the first..i guess the problem with the first is that the backgrounds too harsh and totally overpowers the woman...she already looks strong {someone who's beautiful, knows herself, knows what she wants, and how to get it } and so maybe what's required is a softer background to bring out that..
anyway..that's just my opinion!
hope this helped :)
ciao
i think the second one is much more striking. It's a great illustration.
i like the one with the background better I think. It gives her more character and makes me think of her as being some stylish european lady (i think it's the intricate balcony).
Isn't there a way to find a balance between the two? I really like the background pattern of the first illo, but it seems kind of distracting when combined with the lady. Yet the second illo seems lonely...
I like the colored background. It makes me feel like she's some place exotic; Italy?
I agree that IF has gotten huge...it's really hard to visit and comment on so many submissions! Anyway, I'm glad I stopped by. I like the top one (with the background) best. It adds color, context and atmosphere. The only suggestion I have would be to soften her dress, perhaps by shading or texturing. That would make it more unified with the background. I actually wanted to comment on your IF for this week...it's lovely! I really like the figure with all the soft butterflies above her. The border is an excellent touch. Very nice:>
I like the first, there is more depth
I think the one with the background works better, but the girl looks too superimposed ontop of everything somehow..o.o
I like the image with the background, and yes IFriday has become big. I have been lurking since August and now that there are 500+ submissions a week it is becoming harder to budget the time to see and share thoughts. Please do not stop posting.
the second one .. i like the woman ..the first one i like the picture as a whole
